The Change/Release Manager role involves the co-ordination of the complete end to end testing and deployment of upgrades to the primary network provisioning system for OPTUS. Releases involved one major application upgrade and two minor maintenance releases per calendar year. Metadata model updates occur once a month and are considered a ‘business as usual’ task. Achievements: • Major application upgrades – The network provisioning system goes through 1 major upgrade each year. This upgrade covers new functionality enhancements to the software and bug fixes. Co-ordinating this release involves managing the necessary system and business resources across the company to conduct regression and user acceptance testing (UAT), creation of implementation plans for both solution testing and production deployments, engaging necessary IT and business skill groups to obtain approvals to proceed with the deployment, and being on call during the deployment.
