Work experience

Graduate Engineer for Glencore (from October 2017 to March 2018)
- worked for Glencore at their Mopani Copper Operations in Zambia. While employed with Glencore I worked at a number of different operations including their Mototolo Platinum Mine and Thorncliffe Chrome mine in South Africa. Where I started a graduate training scheme involving managerial roles as well as engineering based projects such as footwall analysis and its effects on tire life and resultant productivity. I was then sent to Glencore’ Mopani mine where I had engineering training and passed a number of courses such as ICAM (Incident Cause Analysis Management) as well as GCOM (General Communications of Mangers training). - I was involved in reporting and would aid in providing daily shift report to the mine manager which included shift progress and feedback. I was also responsible for relaying feedback between employees as well as HSE incidences.
Junior Miner (from May 2016 to September 2016)
- I worked for 3 months as a junior underground miner for British Fluorspar. This involved being trained to drive a variety of vehicles including Atlas Copco (AC) loader ST7, AC 20 ton dumper MT2010, DUX 20 ton dumper, AC boomer drill rig, AC Simba long hole driller, Sandvik loader TORO and a variety of other machinery pre 2000. As well as passing competency tests on all machinery, which can be verified by British Fluorspar, I also began training as a shot firer and was trusted to drill, charge and fire working faces. - I became accustomed to working both morning and evening shifts and was asked to work nights and weekends a privilege rarely offered to interns as it involved a large amount of solitary work. After 6 weeks I was asked to train another intern. - I spent time working in the office shadowing mine manager and shift bosses, during this period I gained exposure to health and safety documentation and equipment logistics in order to achieve a safe and efficient working environment throughout the mine.

Work experience

Geophysicist (from June 2015 to July 2018)
Worked in 3 different onshore basins in the US as an exploration and development geophysicist. North Louisiana Salt Basin: Functioned as lead geophysicist in a multi-disciplinary team that evaluated Lower Smackover commerciality. Utilized seismic attributes, seismic structural and stratigraphic interpretation, 3D reservoir modeling / visualization, velocity analysis / modeling, and quantitative interpretation. - Analyzed numerous economic permutations and risk-reward scenarios in a fractured reservoir, establishing ranges of economic outcomes under mutable geologic properties, volumetrics, and production rates. Resultant economic models with built in sensitivities illustrated the refined project value to management. - Created high-fidelity synthetics, eclipsing the accuracy of previous geophysicists by integrating geophysical, geologic, and petrophysical data. Depth conversions with new synthetics predicted formations within 10’. - Invoked Backus averaging on generated synthetics to achieve sub-seismic resolution, validating the methodology and its ability to predict formation depths amidst complex geology. - Conducted fluid substitution modeling for the conventional Smackover and investigated how altering fluid types / saturations impact reflectivity and impedance; highlighted areas with dual-reservoir potential. - Led the development program by selecting suitable drilling locations then economically ranked prospects. Prioritized drilling locations, guiding field development assuming 1 - 2 rig budget scenarios. - Developed detailed timelines with cost analysis for bolt-on 3D acquisitions, contracted archaeologic / biologic pre-requisite studies to accelerate lead times in areas associated with the highest potential value. - Marketed asset for divestiture, receiving overwhelming interest due to the technical understanding achieved and the business acumen / professionalism exhibited when presenting to bidders. - Worked multiple basins concurrently as sole geophysicist, maintaining a full development role in Fayetteville Shale drilling operations while simultaneously analyzing the Upper & Lower Smackover. Arkoma Basin: Evaluated conventional, shallow sand prospects and unconventional / resource plays (Fayetteville, Moorefield, and Chattanooga) to generate economic hierarchies of remaining inventory. Provided operational support for infill Fayetteville wells and Moorefield delineation. Geophysicist working with bank and clients, and held data rooms for the Fayetteville divestiture - Interpreted basement / deep strata, better delineating fairways by altering preconceived notions about depositional history and source / sediment provenance of the Moorefield. - Identified a suitable salt water disposal site, exceeding all regulatory standards while setting a record for highest project PVI. Increased Moorefield economics with a disposal option proximal to future activity. - Generated structural attribute volumes depicting karst collapse in the Arbuckle. Technical analysis bolstered management’s confidence in disposal capacity. Calculated storage after drilling: 2X predicted volume. - Evaluated conventional reservoirs, risking components required to create and maintain petroleum systems. - Maximized in-zone percentage for the Fayetteville and Moorefield plays by maintaining up-to-date structure maps as deviation surveys were received from operations geologists. - Interpreted regional structure of deep formations and basement, adding detailed fault interpretation to elucidate the structural evolution and constrain source mechanisms / sediment provenance. Appalachian Basin: Served on multi-disciplinary team developing the Marcellus. Guided multi-rig development with structural interpretation and seismic attribute analysis. Investigated the relationship between salt pillows and production. - Mapped the Salina salt in areas with pronounced mobilization, de-risked development strategies by producing isochore maps to explain anomalous production trends. - Created regional structure maps influenced by the deposition and dislocation of salt through extensive interpretation and mistie analysis of legacy 2D seismic data to existing 3D surveys. - Leveraged structural attributes to map regional stress orientation, optimizing directional drilling in dynamic geomechanical conditions, and increasing completed reservoir volumes and hydrocarbon recovery.
Research Assistant (from August 2013 to May 2015)
Specialized in pre-conditioning and processing of legacy 2D marine data, from raw gathers to time migrated stacks. - Processed images that reveal subtle impedance contrasts in upwelling currents, demonstrating measurable reflectivity from temperature / salinity variations in the water column were embedded in seismograms.
Geophysicist Intern (from May 2014 to August 2014)
Interpreted 3D seismic data to regionally map a thin shale, serving as a proxy for the KOP in Fayetteville laterals; used pilot holes to create synthetics and incorporated deviation surveys for T-D conversions.
Research Assistant (from June 2012 to May 2013)
Installed high-precision GPS stations, acquiring geodetic data along the western margin of Argentina. Contracted native labor; orchestrated day-to-day activity in Spanish. Oversaw finances for labor and supplies. Transmitted acquired data to Memphis on a rolling basis to meet project deadlines.
Field Researcher (from May 2011 to July 2011)
Collected seismic reflection/refraction, gravity, MT, EM, magnetic and GPR data to study the Rio Grande Rift.
