Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Fedilberto Gonzalez, I have a Master´s degree in Mining received from the University of Chile in Santiago de Chile and I am also a Mining and Metallurgy Engineer from the National University of Colombia. I have experience in researching Mining Induced Seismicity and Rock Mechanics with El Teniente mine located in Chile. I have knowledge of Rock Mechanics, Mining Induced Seismicity, Numerical Modelling and Programming skills that could be beneficial to your company. I believe that curiosity is the source of knowledge and proactivity is a necessary tool to solve the challenging characteristic of underground mining in high stress environments. Therefore, in my free time I improve my skills and knowledge on Rock Mechanics, Mining Induced Seismicity and Numerical Modeling by reading articles obtained mainly in ResearchGate. I am a strong team player and thanks to the respect and empathy I feel towards the people around me, I have always maintained a good relationship with my university students, colleagues and supervisors. At the age of 14, I was accepted to the National University of Colombia, the school that offered the best training in the field of Engineering in my country. The passion for Geomechanics that I have had since my undergraduate studies have led me to choose a Master’s degree in Mining at the University of Chile (Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences), the best mining school in Latin America and the eighth worldwide. Between February and July this year, I will be taking an English course to improve my current level at the Navitas school located in Perth. Although I still need to work on improving my speaking skills in English, my reading and writing skills have allowed me to read and publish high-impact articles. During my studies at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences at the University of Chile, I have served as an Auxiliary Teacher in the field of Rock Mechanics, the position that I have maintained until now and from which I received a score of 6.9 (with 7 being the maximum score) in the teaching student survey. I successfully published two academic articles in 2019. The first publication was for the ARMA Symposium which was held in New York, the United States. The second publication was for the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) Congress which was held in Foz de Iguazu, Brazil. I was also invited by the Institute of Mine Seismology (IMS) to present my paper at the Mining Seismology Workshop held at the National University of Arequipa in Peru. In addition, I received two scholarships. The first scholarship that I gained was granted by the Advanced Mining Technology Center (AMTC) for outstanding academic results and my dedication to research. The second one that I received came from the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM) to represent my country in the Early Career Forum 2019. Having my research objectives clear, I worked hard and I have been accepted by Curtin University in Perth, Australia for the PhD Doctor of Philosophy programme (Mining and Metallurgical Engineering). Nevertheless, before starting my PhD studies, I consider it necessary to gain some experience on site to achieve a better performance and put my knowledge into practice. Having all in mind, I would like to kindly ask you to consider my application for a position of a Geotechnical Engineer in your company. Yours sincerely, Fedilberto José Gonzalez Arias
