An exciting opportunity has become available to work for Barnardos Australia, one of Australia's leading children's charities.  A full time, Permanent Recruitment and Support Worker is required for our Permanent Care and Adoptions Program based in Ashfield.
 
The Role  
 
The Adoptions and Permanent Care Program takes children who have been separated from their families by the court.  Reporting to the Area Manager, the Recruitment and Support Worker will be responsible for recruiting carers for the specialised program.  As a Recruitment and Support Worker you will conduct assessments, provide supervision and ongoing training for foster carers as well as other practical support.
 
The Candidate
 
The ideal candidate will have a qualification in Social Work, Social Welfare or related area, previous experience working with children and families, demonstrated assessment skills, excellent communication skills both written and verbal, a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, other agencies and Government authorities.
 
Our desired candidate would have previous experience conducting foster care assessments, an understanding of Child Protection and Out of Home Care and or experience in working with children and families from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and/or an Indigenous backgrounds.

Department of Cognitive Science
The Department of Cognitive Science carries out world-leading interdisciplinary research, research training, undergraduate teaching, and engagement across a wide range of domains of cognitive science. Current areas of expertise include attention, perception, motor control, hearing, language, reading, memory, and belief formation. The Department hosts the ARC Centre of Excellence in Cognition and its Disorders (CCD) and is well-equipped to conduct cutting-edge human neuroscience research. The department houses multiple facilities to support research requiring neuroimaging (e.g., MEG, ERP, EEG, fNIRS), brain stimulation (e.g., TMS, tDCS), eye and body tracking, and virtual reality. In addition, there are two 3T MRI systems on campus.
The Role
We are seeking a Lecturer (Level B) or Senior Lecturer (Level C) to join our team in 2018 who will make a strong contribution to research and teaching in the Department. The successful candidate will be an emerging research leader in any area of Cognitive Science, though preference may be given to applicants with particular expertise in the study of language, cognitive development, or computational neuroscience/modelling.

There is also the opportunity for you to step up and take more leadership within the centre, which would require you to mentor and develop other educators across the service. You will be guiding the program across rooms, as well as assisting educators with their own understanding and professional development.
