Disability Support Worker, Casual - FAIRFIELD EAST, NSW (West of Sydney CBD)
Permanent Part-Time (55 hours per fortnight)
Join a not-for-profit community organisation based in Western Sydney and working primarily in Fairfield, Bankstown, Auburn and Liverpool. Operating for over twenty years and provide a broad range of children’s, family, youth, mental health, disability and early intervention services.

Delivering a range of integrated programs and services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The programs and services are either centre-based or non centre-based and include Case Management, Community Participation, Transition to Work, Leisure Link, Life Choices, Self-Managed and Supported Living Services.
The position is responsible for working day-to-day with clients in understanding and assisting them to achieve their goals. Disability Support Workers are to assist the clients, by adhering to NDIS plans that are designed to maximize positive outcomes and achievement of individual goals for each person.
Work with clients on a day to day basis to encourage, motivate them to meet their goals, recording their progress and evaluating and identifying ongoing steps to achieve their goals. • Work to continuously encourage, motivate, acknowledge and validate all Disability team members in order to have beneficial and positive client centric practice in every aspect of engagement. • Maintain positive working relationships with families, colleagues and stakeholders. • Ensure strict adherence to the roster and commitment to your Duty of Care/WHS requirements • Portray values and attitudes in line with those of Respect, Equality, Dignity and Understanding. • When required transport clients to and from home and to and from programmed activities. • Ensure organisational property and equipment is used in a manner that is conducive to maximizing financial viability and complies with WHS legislation. • Act in accordance with WA’s Code of Conduct. • Ensure a commitment to company HR policies and procedures.
Minimum Certificate III in Disability or equivalent. Experience in a care capacity of people with an intellectual and developmental disability. Ability to engage and recognise issues related to servicing CALD clients. Knowledge of NDIS, Disability Service Standards and the Disability Services Act. Commitment to social justice principles and access and equity. Skills in mediation and negotiation, collaboration and consultation with clients Commitment to and an understanding of WHS responsibilities Demonstrated high level customer/sales and networking/marketing service skills.
