We are looking for two motivated, qualified and experienced Senior Engineers to join our Development Engineering team. The primary focus of these positions is to manage the engineering referrals process for the Developmental Engineering Service and contribute to the delivery of new subdivisions and land development across the LGA. The position will be the primary engineering assessment of building developments including but not limited to stormwater drainage, flooding and overland flow, access and circulation.

In this role you will:
- Work in the Regional City for the west sub-region of Sydney's Metropolitan Area
- Contribute to the delivery of Council's strategic plans, development controls and policies
- Primarily provide engineering advice for building developments and significant development across the Penrith Local Government Area through development referrals and pre-lodgement processes
- Effectively manage the Engineering assessment of "building" developments across the LGA
- Ensure that development and infrastructure works are planned, designed and delivered to meet legislative requirements and Council's strategic and operational objectives.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
- A tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field (applicants within 6 months of completion of their qualification will be considered)
- Demonstrated experience in the development assessment of building developments from an engineering perspective
- A demonstrated ability to consider development proposals on merit with reference to relevant planning controls and policy
- Practical experience in all engineering aspects of land development (preferably in Local Government)
- A demonstrated ability to effectively project manage the planning, design and delivery of civil infrastructure in new release areas achieving high quality outcomes
- A demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively communicate with Councillors, Council officers, state authorities/agencies, developers. consultants and general public
- A current Class C Driver Licence
DESIRABLE CRITERIA
- A sound knowledge of all relevant legislation including the local Government Act, Environmental Planning & Assessment Act Building Professionals Act, Roads Act, Work Health & Safety Act, Converyancing Act, Protection of the Environment Operations Act and associated regulations
- A demonstrated ability to identify, analyse and solve complex problems
- A thorough understanding of flood management and water quality principles associated with land management and development
- Experience in Local Government Engineering

Commencing Salary: $90,500 - $103,800 plus relevant Market Forces Allowance, commensurate with the skills, qualifications and experience of the preferred applicant.

A Leaseback Vehicle is available with this position, however it is not a condition of employment.
