Primary Objective:
The psychologist conducts comprehensive criminogenic risk and needs assessments and supervises case management processes that deliver therapeutic programs, counselling and psychological services for young offenders within youth justice facilities in the Northern Territory. The position provides professional direction and input into case-management, treatment plans and parole board reports as required. Be an active member of a multi-disciplinary team; participate in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development and training. Liaise and consult with both internal and external stakeholders on issues relevant to the management of young offenders to ensure coordinated case management. Essential:
A tertiary qualification in Psychology and unconditional registration to work as a Psychologist in Australia. Demonstrated experience in formulating specialised case management, including behaviour management strategies, and delivering offence-focused programs for young people. Ability to establish and maintain appropriate relationships with youth, including resolving conflict and maintaining expectations, within the youth justice system. Detailed experience in assessing and dealing with complex social and emotional situations within a youth justice facility. High level interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate staff in a challenging team environment. Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with and supporting allied staff, and participating effectively in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Written and verbal communication skills of a high level and the ability to influence and persuade others.
