The dairying couple who have established and built this successful business are looking to the future: seeking a younger couple with one member having sufficient skills to be a senior farmhand, and both looking to grow their skills and equip themselves for a strong future in dairying.
The farm is in the Heytesbury Settlement area of south-west Victoria, close to the township of Simpson. The 450 late autumn calving cows produce 500 kg ms off 880 acres of highly productive pastures.
The farm is well developed and presented. Facilities include a modern 50 unit rotary dairy, with ACRs, flow meters and computerised ID and feeding; ample shedding, cattle handling facilities and updated machinery. Subdivision and laneways are well established and the farm requires little further infrastructure investment.
Applicants likely to be considered for the Senior Farmhand position will have experience in a similar role as part of a farm team, in milk harvesting, pastures, production and animal husbandry. Formal qualifications, such as a Cert IV in Agriculture or equivalent, will be well-regarded.
An initial salary of $60,000-$80,000 pa plus super is being offered. It is assumed that a 50-60 hour week would be typical, however this is flexible and hours and days worked would depend on how both parties plan a roster. Partners wishing to work on the farm will be rewarded individually on a casual or part-time basis. There is a three-bedroom house available on farm.
