The Office of the Director, Gatton Campus is responsible for ensuring the smooth and effective operations of the Gatton Campus of The University of Queensland, supporting academic teaching, research and community programs. The Office of the Director Gatton Campus portfolio encompasses the Gatton Dairy Unit, Piggery Unit, Equine Unit, Cropping Unit, Grazing Animal Unit, Queensland Animal Science Precinct, UQG-VEC and the Halls of Residence in addition to administration functions and OH&S.
The Gatton Dairy Unit is a joint initiative of The University of Queensland and Queensland Department of Agriculture and Fisheries and operates as a commercial farm as well as a teaching, research and extension facility. The Dairy Unit currently has a milking herd of 300 cows.
The Role
The successful appointee will be passionate about farming and will be expected to assist with the day-to-day operations of the Dairy Unit including but not limited to husbandry, breeding, nutrition, hygiene, health, machinery and behavior of dairy cattle.
The Person
Applicants should have a trade certificate or Certificate III in a relevant discipline, or completion of Year 12 or a Certificate II with relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training. The applicant will also need to demonstrate knowledge of all aspects of dairy farming. Possession of a current drivers license is a requirement.

Remuneration
This is a full-time continuing appointment at HEW Level 3. The remuneration package will be in the range $52,291.58- $58,050.18p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $61,181.15- $67,918.71 p.a.).

Education and Experience
To be considered or an interview you will have experience operating, driving and maintaining a range of modern heavy agricultural machinery and will possess appropriate licences. A current unencumbered drivers licence with a reliable form of transport is essential. Previous experience operating in a large-scale horticultural enterprise and post-secondary qualifications in horticulture production or agriculture will be highly regarded.
The company are seeking a well organised, team focussed individual with good communication skills, a common-sense approach and the ability to use their initiative to find practical solutions. Self-motivated and reliable, the successful candidate will have the experience to plan and prioritise their day-to-day workflow.
Knowledge of GPS guided systems and truck or HR licence would be an advantage.
