About the Role
Living Arts is a creative therapeutic support service offered within Life Without Barriers in South Australia. It tailors responses to meet the individual and unique needs of the participants in the program.
We are currently seeking a creative, energetic and highly motivated Program Coordinator to co-ordinate services for the Living Arts program on a permanent, part-time (0.8) basis with flexibility for full time hours.
You will be required to develop, co-ordinate and provide a range of individual and group programs using visual arts, music, dance, drama, and movement etc. for children, youth and adults who have complex needs and at times challenging behaviour, particularly those with mental health illness. You will be responsible for developing and implementing Living Arts response plans for individuals and provide supervision, support and leadership to a team of Resident Artists.
The program is based at Netley but will also require you to work collaboratively with other community arts programs and artists to develop links for outreach initiatives. Flexibility and the capacity to work in a fast paced environment is essential.
Skills & Experience
Recognised qualification in Creative Art Therapy, the Arts or relevant tertiary degree in Human Services. • Demonstrated experience providing therapeutic, creative and /or art therapy services for disadvantaged people, including those with a disability, in out of home care, are homeless, who may suffer mental illness or are refugees. • Experience working creatively with children, young people and adults who have challenging behaviour. • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals, families and groups from a strength-based and culturally appropriate perspective. • Ability to work collaboratively with other therapists including psychologists and social workers. • Demonstrated strong coordination, leadership and supervision skills. • Demonstrated understanding and sound knowledge of Reconciliation. • Knowledge of the therapeutic value of non-verbal creative therapies. • Current Drivers Licence. • Current First Aid certificate.
Successful candidates will be required to clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check and Working with Children Check (where relevant to the role).
