Summary of Forensic DNA Database Team (FDDT) Position:
The duties of this position involve performing routine activities around the operation of the National Criminal Investigation DNA Database (NCIDD) and the NCIDD-integrated Forensic Analysis (NIFA) database.   The scientist will be involved in the upload of person and evidentiary profiles from autosomal and Y-chromosome DNA analysis on NCIDD AND NIFA.   Staff in this position will have an understanding of evidence recovery and DNA analysis practices to conduct the quality checks for DNA match reports.   All duties are performed in accordance with laboratory accreditation, quality assurance, Section 464 of Crime Act (1958), workplace health and safety and standard operating procedures.
Summary of DNA Analysis Unit Position (DNA AU):
The function of the DNA Analysis Unit is to perform examination and submission of person samples and to perform all laboratory aspects of DNA testing for all person and crime scene samples.   DNA analysis is carried out both robotically and manually including - extraction, quantitation, amplification and electrophoresis.   A degree of flexibility is required to cope with the changing priority of case and samples.   There is potential that you may be required to give evidence in court on the work you carry out.   All work is conducted in accordance with laboratory accreditation, quality assurance and standard operating procedures.
