How Did You Get 457 Sponsored
How do others get 457 sponsored? What did they do? How did they get started? How did they find their sponsors? Six migrants tell their story from arrival to 457 sponsorship.- Produced by Marcus Lindblad - Edited by Milos Ponjavusic - Legal review by Julie Tariel (MARN 1464837) - Support by Jan Solomon - Music "Cayuga Summer" by Wistia - Told by Aaron Malton, Andressa Peters, Ben Webb, Jeff Trochon, Sumudu Harshini and Tharanga Bandara - Filmed at Little Jean in Double Bay, Vision Personal Training in Rose Bay and other locations.
Jeff Trochon - I had many friends who came to Australia before and they told me that it was great, that there was a lot of great opportunities here.
Ben Webb - I came with my British passport and a 417 holiday working visa.
Tharanga Bandara - I arrived on a Sri Lankan passport and a student visa.
Aaron Malton - I came on a working holiday visa.
Andressa Peters - I came with the student visa and the Brazilian passport
Jeff Trochon - Spent two years on the working holiday visas and then I transferred to a student visa.
Aaron Malton - So with a working holiday you get a first year and then I think you got till you are 30 years old to use your second year.
Jeff Trochon - Stayed a year over here, went travelling all around Australia right down the East Coast.
Aaron Malton - I went on a sheep farm which was not the most fun experience but it got me my second year.
Jeff Trochon - Then I went on a farm to renew my visa for one more year.
Andressa Peters - I have been in Australia for 1 year and 4 months.
Jeff Trochon - I’ve been studying for the past two years.
Ben Webb - I found a job online.
Tharanga Bandara - I have been working as a volunteer worker.
Andressa Peters - I was working with my boss for one year and I just spoke with him and he told me, “ Yes, I can give you the sponsorship.”
Jeff Trochon - When I applied for this job I had no idea I was going to get a sponsorship.
Aaron Malton - Me and my employer discussed at the very start about a 457 sponsorship visa.
Tharanga Bandara - So after a couple of months he asked me to put me on a 457 visa.
Ben Webb - I want to be sponsored can that be arranged and he goes, “Yes, certainly”
Sumudu Harshini - I’m included in my husband’s 457 application.
Jeff Trochon - The owners already sponsored someone in the past so they exactly know what it takes, how long it’s going to be, what documents they need.
Aaron Malton - My employer arranged to be nominated as a sponsor in order to qualify to sponsor me.
Tharanga Bandara - We selected one immigration agent.
Andressa Peters - Also look for a migration agent.
Tharanga Bandara - The first step he sent me all the documents that he needs.
Ben Webb - Send them all off to the team and then it was just a case of waiting.
Jeff Trochon - There are lots of papers to present, a lot of references. You need qualifications. So it’s going to take time.
Arron Malton - The visa was granted three weeks after we applied.
Ben Webb - To actual approval it took me five weeks.
Tharanga Bandara - One mistake means like we don’t have much skills in the language.
Ben Webb - If you really do want to get sponsored and you are serious about it, just get the ball rolling as soon as you can.
Jeff Trochon - I was very happy when my employers told me they were going to sponsor me. I was really excited. I was really looking forward to
staying in Australia.
Aaron Malton - It was a close call. I was actually going to have to leave the company the day it got granted because my six months was up. But it got
granted that afternoon. I was celebrating in the studio so it was a great day.
Andressa Peters - So I was very, very happy.
